GROWING TOGETHER: UPPER SCHOOL

Letter from the Principal

With many activities and events from this past school year already stowed away in scrapbooks and personal memories, we are beginning to look ahead to the coming school year and the anticipation of welcoming our students, both new and returning, back to school in the fall.

First, a brief backward glance at the final events of this past school year: Minnehaha students took a record number of 600 AP exams during the first two weeks in May. The spring musical “Beauty and the Beast” played to big crowds on six different evenings in May, and spring sports enjoyed successful seasons, despite the unseasonably cold and wet weather. During the first week in June, all students in grades 9-11 participated in 40 different June Term trips, “real-life learning” experiences in cultural immersion intended to help them learn more about people whose lives are very different from their own, as well as more about themselves.

We also said good-bye to the Class of 2008 in a memory-filled graduation weekend that included a Senior Honors Night, a Baccalaureate Service on Saturday, and a Commencement Service on Sunday afternoon. The graduating students left Minnehaha Academy on a high note, and we wish them well as they pursue new challenges and new accomplishments in their lives.

As one class leaves, another enters. Welcome to the Class of 2012!
