Academic Excellence at Minnehaha
Minnehaha Academy prepares its students not only for college but also for adulthood. The rigorous academic curriculum, blended with a broad spectrum of exciting and engaging extra-curricular activities and athletics, at every grade level, promotes the development of the whole person, providing the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and social skills needed for lifelong learning and service.
As you explore the curriculum for each grade level, presented here according to subject area, we hope that you will see how the Minnehaha Academy philosophy of education can be realized for each student who joins this community of scholars, mentors and friends.
Grading policy
Beginning with the ninth grade, the cumulative grade point average (GPA) is computed at the end of each semester by giving the following value for each grade: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0. In addition, plus and minus are given a .33 value and are added or subtracted accordingly. All classes are used in determining GPA. Advanced Placement (AP) and accelerated courses are not weighted.
No rank policy
Class rank is not provided on students’ transcripts because in a small, relatively homogeneous class, where nearly all students are college bound, we believe individual class rank is not an accurate measure of a student’s academic achievement. Tested aptitudes and demonstrated abilities are well above national averages.
