Letter from the Principal

Welcome to the Minnehaha Academy website. I am Charice Deegan, Lower School Principal at the Minneapolis Campus. What a joy it is to be greeted by the smiles and happy conversations of children every day!

The mission of the Minnehaha Academy Lower School is to provide a quality education integrated with the Christian faith. We strive to provide an enriching, happy and safe environment for children to learn in ways that are developmentally appropriate. We encourage our students and members of the Minnehaha community to live out this Christian faith. Our goal is academic excellence emphasizing the development of the whole child: intellectual, emotional, physical, social and spiritual.

Minnehaha Academy’s Lower School is where we educate first learners – Preschool through fifth grade. There is a wonderful energy in the building. We are excited to provide curriculum-based education with quality teachers integrating research, best practice and today’s technologies. Along with small class sizes, Minnehaha’s Lower School is a place you will want your child’s educational journey to begin.

Minnehaha Academy believes in fostering a love for learning, and we are proud to offer our students many valuable educational experiences. During their time at Minnehaha Lower School, your child will have classes with teachers who specialize in Art, Music, Spanish, Computer, Library and Physical Education. Our students also have educational experiences with a variety of up-to-date technology.

As parents, you are a critical part of your child’s education; after all, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. We value your input and the time you spend helping your child experience educational success. We welcome you as our partner in education and encourage communication with your child’s teachers, the Lower School staff and me.

As we move through the school year, we encourage you to share in some conversations with your child. Young children love to talk. They have many wonderful stories to tell about their experiences at school. They need to know that someone is listening. They also want to hear stories about you and your childhood - have fun with this. Please take time to share with them. Time with you is a priceless gift that will quickly fly by.

As Principal of Minnehaha Lower School, Minneapolis Campus, I feel blessed to have the best job in the world. Everyday I’m privileged to work with dedicated staff and teachers, surrounded by thriving families, and most importantly of all, inquisitive and energetic children.
