Middle School: a time of transition. Students at this age are unique in their physical, academic, emotional, and spiritual needs. Minnehaha teachers recognize this. Teachers create a positive learning climate and reinforce their instruction with a model of the Christian life that links faith and learning.

Middle School is a great place to grow academically, spiritually, and socially.

Sixth graders entering the Middle School are helped through the transition from the elementary classroom to the movement between many classes and teachers. Along with the required classes of English, math, science, and social studies, students take Latin, physical education, Bible, and music.

Study and organizational skills are taught and reinforced in sixth grade in preparation for the increased academic load of seventh and eighth grade. Students in seventh and eighth grade begin language by taking Spanish, French, or Latin. You’ll find more information about our curriculum for each subject area and grade level in this section.

Middle School offers a wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities in athletics, fine arts, and student leadership. Choir, band, and orchestra are offered at every grade level, as well as electives in drama, art, and technology.

Athletic opportunities abound for girls and boys – no superstar status is necessary to compete. Middle School students also participate in weekly chapel and periodic service learning projects in which homeroom teams organize serving opportunities in the community.
